What was the inspiration behind your business?
Starting his career with a strong foundation in construction and housing rehabilitation, Jorge’s journey began as a parking lot owner and operator. This early experience equipped him with invaluable insights, particularly as his projects expanded in scale and complexity, where parking infrastructure emerged as a critical component.
What keys to being productive can you share?
Over the years, Jorge has honed his expertise in various facets of real estate development, with a primary focus on site identification, acquisition, and development opportunities. His keen eye for identifying undervalued properties or areas has been instrumental in securing numerous development sites, ranging from small residential projects to large-scale developments.
What has been the hardest obstacle you’ve overcome?
A dedicated member of the New York State Association for Affordable Housing (NYSAFAH), Jorge is committed to promoting affordable housing creation and preservation. He also actively participates in humanitarian missions to Cuba, providing essential aid and supplies to his homeland.
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned through the course of your career?
Beyond his professional achievements, Jorge’s philanthropic endeavors extend to collaborating with non-profit organizations such as the New York City Housing Partnership, SOBRO, and the Local Development Company (LDC) of East New York, fostering community development initiatives.
How do you measure success?
In recent years, Jorge has spearheaded transformative projects in economically-challenged neighborhoods, developing both low and middle-income housing units in areas like the South Bronx and East New York. Additionally, Maddd Equities oversees a diverse portfolio encompassing 2,000 multifamily units and approximately 500,000 square feet of commercial space.
